     NOTE:  
     Income percentile categories were constructed from NES survey data
     for family income. For each study year, the survey variable's original
     codes describing income ranges, was approximated as closely as
     possible to fit within this percentage group version.  Note that prior
     to 1972, an estimate of the current year's income was given by the
     respondent; in all later years, the respondent's estimate of income
     was for previous year.

     This question is variable VCF0114 in the ANES Cumulative Data File dataset.
