Re: ANES Announcement: 2004 Advance Release is now available
Date: January 31, 2005

Dear NES user community,

An advance release of the ANES 2004 time-series study is now available for download from the ANES website (http://www.electionstudies.org). The release contains survey data from the pre-election study and the post-election study, as well as a pre-election weight.

A general description of the study can be found on the ANES 2004 Study Page at: http://www.electionstudies.org/studypages/2004prepost/2004prepost.htm

To download the dataset itself, from the study page select the "Download Dataset" link to the left, register if you have not already done so, select "Time Series Studies" and then click on the "Pre-Post ZIP file (all release components)" under the "ANES 2004 Advance Release" header. You will be prompted for a location where the file is to be stored.

Advance releases are preliminary versions of a dataset, released very soon after data collection is complete. Some variables are not yet available, and some processing and documentation work is not yet finished. Please see the introduction to the codebook for a more detailed description of differences between our advance and full releases.

The full release of the time series study is tentatively scheduled for distribution on or before the end of May. No advance release of the Panel dataset is planned, though its full release is also tentatively planned to occur before the end of May.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by e-mail to "anes@electionstudies.org".

Thank you for your support of the ANES!
