Cross-Study ID File 1956, 1958, 1960

This file provides all known case ID information across the following studies by respondent:

Variables TS56ID, TS58ID and TS60ID are case IDs represented in the individual time-series studies 1956, 1958, and 1960 respectively. Variables PAN56ID, PAN58ID and PAN60ID are ids from the American Panel Study for 1956, 1958, and 1960 cases released as part of the latter file.

Participation can be tracked by ID across studies. For example, 1956 respondents included in the 1956 time series study but not in the American Panel Study will have an ID in TS56ID but not in PAN56ID; 1956 respondents included in the American Panel Study but not in the 1956 time-series study will have an ID in PAN56ID but not in TS56ID; respondents included in both studies have ID numbers in both variables. (NOTE: 1956 and 1958 IDs numbered 8001 and higher, and 1960 IDs numbered 9000 and higher are noninterview ID numbers).

Participation can also be tracked across waves. Variables PRE56, POST56, POST58, PRE60 and POST60 are coded 1 if R was interviewed in that wave in either study (coded 0 if not interviewed).

The ID File is a tab-delimited ASCII text file with variable labels in row 1.
